About Us
I first became interested in Chinese medicine in college at the University of North Carolina - Chapel Hill. I had been struggling with allergies and recurrent colds and sinus infections since high school. No matter what, it seemed like I was always stuffed up and always tired. I tried many medications - but nothing seemed to offer lasting relief. On a whim, a friend and I attended a free lecture on Chinese medicine. I had never even heard of acupuncture and certainly had never considered what it might offer me in the ways of healing. Intrigued and on yet another whim, I decided to give acupuncture a try. It changed my life. I bid my nasal sprays, decongestants and anti-histamines farewell. Now, I was breathing better, eating better, and sleeping better. Not only that, I developed a deeper awareness of my life that ultimately gave me a purpose. I wanted to make better, healthier choices for myself, and I wanted to help other people, who had struggled just as I had, do the same.
After graduating from college, I moved to Asheville, North Carolina. I worked as an acupuncturist’s assistant at the Chinese Acupuncture and Herbology Clinic, the largest acupuncture practice in the southeast. Then, I enrolled in Asheville’s own Chinese medicine school, Daoist Traditions College of Oriental Medicine. Upon graduating, I became certified in both acupuncture and Chinese herbal medicine. I have also studied in China with Dr. Wang Ju-Yi. I practiced at Asheville Community Acupuncture until moving to Nashville. I am now licensed within Tennessee and working at Green Hills Natural Health Clinic with Steve Blumenthal, LAc.
